Describtion Devilfish Poker
Brit bad boy Dave Ulliot has attached his name-- and his nickname-- to this poker-only, European-leaning site that has a reputation for attracting players with a disposition similar to that of its namesake. We US players have been kindly barred from play at this site, so any of you rounders from across the pond should be able to fill in actual player details that those of us behind the Union curtain can't directly access. The site offers 150% sign-up bonus (up to 666 pound, no less,) and rumor has it that the Devilfish himself plays on the site regularly. Another upside, I suppose because the site is fostered by one of the world's premier poker celebrities, is that the game selection on the site is more varied than most run-of-the-mill beginner sites. Devilfish games include (but are not limited to) Hold 'em, draw, stud, americana, omaha, telesina and more. With variety in gaming like that, there's no wonder that our friends in the EU are keeping this gem of a site to themselves. The site offers fast, multilingual support. The English and Russian support staffs are 24/7, and Finnish and Swedish-speaking players are given the option to e-mail (in English) during the hours that their live support is offline. When I first saw that this site was part of the affiliates, I searched around for it to see why I'd never heard of it before. Ulliot has had some memorable moments, not the least of which have been against his American counterpart, the ever chatty (and always bratty) Phill Hellmuth. Most of the US sites lack any really good trash-talkers. At least in terms of trash talk that relates directly to the game, that is. Most of the off-color language that goes through chats in poker sites gets bleeped out, and the options to block chat from the more abusive players actually sends, for me, some of the excitement in these looser tables out of the equation. Too many of America's puritanical streak gets sucked into the online poker world and, frankly, I don't know why. We need a site that allows for someone to, say, whine about bad beats in these poker chats with sound-effects rather than having the fish in all of these big online ponds get relegated to talking aobut other players' moms. If devilsfish.com's look and feel give lie to anything close to the way their players throw around digital cards, then the site is bound to offer up some really engaging play, even if the nature of play tends toward the aggressive and less-than cordial sometimes. Every world needs its dark side, and for UK players, that dark side is represented by the Devilfish Himself. |
